At OLST, we seek to engage, inspire and challenge pupils through Art and Design. We endeavour to introduce them to a broad range of techniques, materials and artists, craftspeople and designers. We aim to equip our pupils with the confidence, knowledge and skills to experiment, explore, take risks, invent and create. Art and design should enable them to explore and celebrate themselves, their community, their country and their world as well as fostering a curiosity about the world around them which encourages respect and connectivity with others.. Most importantly,we wish for our children to have a ‘[can-do’ attitude and have fun within the subject while developing skills through different areas of study.
Increasingly, we are conscious of how we can deliver Art and Design both inside and out of the classroom, utilising the wonderful outdoor space within our school garden and the semi-rural surroundings we live in.
