Science at OLST

Developing enquiry through investigation is key to science at OLST. Within our weekly science lessons, the children are encouraged to think like a scientist, talk like a scientist and act like a scientist. They know that in science we are scientists. The lessons are carefully sequenced through the three main areas of science- biology, chemistry and physics which are supported through a progression in investigation skills. This allows the children to build a secure foundation in their science knowledge ready for KS3. We use common misconceptions as teaching steps to ensure the children's knowledge is accurate.

We enhance the science learning in school with practical experiences. We have worked with OASIS and Locomotion to give the children engaging session which have helped to embed their learning and enthuse them within the subject. The children at OLST talk positively about their science lessons and enjoy the practical investigations which are a key part of our curriculum. The aspire to be scientists of the future.
